FAQs

Q:Is ultrasound safe?

A:Yes. Over the years, multiple studies have shown that ultrasound does not cause any harm to the mother or fetus. Our scanning is the exact same as that performed in your doctor?? office or in a hospital. According to the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (March 19, 2007) “Diagnostic ultrasound has been in use since the late 1950s. There are no confirmed adverse biological effects on patients resulting from this usage. “

Q:What is the difference between 2D, 3D, and 4D?

A:.2D basically provides an outline of the baby and is used in our office to see if you’re having a boy or girl.
.3D is like a photograph. It provides us with an image of the baby.
.4D is like a video. It takes the 3D photograph, but shows the baby`s movements and actions (like thumb sucking or other gestures)

Q:When is the best time to get my ultrasound?

A:A lot of this depends upon what you wish to see.
.If you are only interested in seeing the gender, then we can see you as early as 15 weeks.
.If you’d like images of the entire body, then you should come in between 16 and 18 weeks.
.If you’d like to see more details of the face and see less of the body, then come in between 20-28 weeks.
.If you’d like to see the best face pictures, then come between 30-34 weeks.

Q:What machine do you use?

A:We use the most state of the aret 3D & 4D ultrasound imaging systems-the GE Voluson 730 Expert. The GE Voluson 730 has been seen in GE television commercials and many printed articles from around the world. It is probably the best 3D/4D ultrasound machine available!

Q:May I bring friends or family?

A:YES! We would love to have your friends and family join us to share in this special experience. Our room can accommodate up to 10 guests comfortably (and even more if you don?? mind the crowd).

Q:What form of payment do you take?

A:Cash, Debit Card, Visa, and MasterCard are accepted. Unfortunately, insurance does not currently cover the costs for this ultrasound.

Q:How do I book an appointment?

A:Simply call our office at 1.650.MY-B-SCAN (650-692-7226) to speak with one of our schedulers and set up a time to come in. It’s that easy!

Q:What can I do to help make sure I get the best photos?

A:Although a lot of this is up to the baby (sometimes they like to put their hands in front of their faces and are shy or are facing towards your spine), we suggest having your bladder a little full and drinking some fruit juice an hour or two before your appointment (to make your baby more active).
The more amniotic fluid around your baby often results in better images. Therefore, try to stay well hydrated in the 1-2 weeks leading up to your ultrasound (in other words, make sure you follow your doctor`s recommendation regarding the amount of water you drink).
Please know that we cannot always meet everyone’s expectations as to how the photos come out. Every ultrasound is different, depending on how far along you are, the baby?? position, the amount of fluid, and the mother’s condition. Although we can?? make any promises that the photos you get will be just like those you might have seen elsewhere, we do promise to do our best to get the best images possible.
